Information for App Review

This page is for Apple App Review. If you are a parent looking for help, start at the support center.

How Sprout is structured

Sprout is a two-app family product. The parent app (iPhone) is where a parent creates the account, verifies parental consent, adds children, and manages tasks and rewards. The kid app (iPad) is the child’s side, paired to the family by the parent. A child cannot create an account, sign in on their own, or contact anyone through the kid app.

Demo account

A reviewer demo path exists for both apps. The demo account details live in the review notes in App Store Connect, alongside the build. We keep them off this public page on purpose. If anything in the notes is unclear or the demo flow blocks you, use the escalation path below and we will unblock you the same day.

Hello Heart adult activity proof

Hello Heart is an optional, parent-only pilot. Review notes for an entitled build include an adult demo account whose family has the server-side health_canvas grant. The Child App contains no HealthKit capability or Health permission text.

The iOS read-only purpose string is exactly: “Allow Sprout Parent to read your steps, active energy, and workouts so you can create a family activity proof card.

  1. Use the entitled Parent App on a real iPhone and sign in with the adult demo account.
  2. Open Privacy & Consent, review the versioned Health/photo/vendor disclosure, and affirmatively enable Hello Heart.
  3. Open the Family Board activity and allow read access to the adult’s steps, active energy, and workouts. Raw quantities and workout rows stay on device; only a confirmed categorical proof card is posted.
  4. For the empty or unavailable Health path, use the camera-only fallback. Confirm that the image depicts the authenticated adult or a non-person activity scene. A photo containing a child cannot be submitted to the model.
  5. A negative or unavailable photo verdict remains unverified and does not block posting.
  6. Revoke the health_canvas family grant to verify feature-off behavior: sensitive actions are unavailable and the app does not crash.

This native capability requires a newly built binary; an OTA update cannot add HealthKit. Older binaries do not expose the capability and continue without crashing. App Store Connect fields are not represented as completed here; release evidence must include the submitted answers and reviewer notes.
